London Design Biennale

Building on the enormous success of the inaugural 2016 London Design Biennale, over 40 countries and territories will be welcomed to the second edition of this prestigious global event, 4-23 September 2018.

Visitors to London Design Biennale will interact with brand new work by world-leading architects, designers, scientists, writers and artists in a broad, vibrant exhibition that includes AI and robotics, virtual reality, large-scale sculpture, immersive digital installations, performances and renderings of the future.

‘Emotional States’ is the theme chosen to provoke a broad interpretation across design disciplines, with immersive and engaging installations that interrogate how design affects every aspect of people’s lives.

Over 40 countries will be presenting an exciting laboratory of ideas that will investigate the important relationship between design, strong emotional responses and real social needs.

Sustainability, migration and conflict, civic responsibility, pollution, water, social equality, and innovative solutions for issues in 21st-century life are just some of the big issues of our time being explored.

Duration

The London Design Biennale exhibition will be across the whole site of Somerset House and as such we recommend allowing 1.5-2.5 hours for your visit.

Good To Know

The unauthorised use of equipment for photographing, recording or transmitting (by digital or other means) any audio, visual or audio-visual material within the Venue is strictly forbidden.

By attending the Exhibition, you give your express consent to your actual or simulated likeness to be included within any film, photograph, audio and/or audio-visual recording to be exploited in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world. This includes filming by the police or security staff which may be carried out for the security of customers.

How Does It Work

You will receive a booking confirmation email.

If you have chosen to collect at the venues box office, please print the booking confirmation and bring it on the day, a minimum of 30 minutes before the performance start time. You will also need to present the card used to purchase the tickets as valid ID.

If you have chosen E-ticket, you can download your voucher from your booking confirmation. Please print your voucher – it is your ticket of admission. Bring the voucher to the theatre. We recommend you arrive 30 minutes before the show to settle into your seats.
