Mark Morris Dance Group
The dance-making genius Mark Morris, celebrated for his imaginative choreography, returns with this stunningly beautiful reimagining of the poetic tale Layla and Majnun.
In this remarkable work, Mark Morris has collaborated with the Silkroad Ensemble – the famous musical collective founded by Yo-Yo Ma – and the British artist Howard Hodgkin, to stage a danced version of Layla and Majnun – dubbed the Romeo and Juliet of the East.
Performed by 16 superb dancers, Mark Morris makes exquisite use of the mesmerising music sung by two celebrated vocalists and played live by ten of the most outstanding musicians in the world from the Silkroad Ensemble.
